LETARTE SWIMWEAR OPENS IN WAIKIKI

Letarte Waikiki / TheEditHawaii.com

Maui-based Letarte Swimwear opened the doors to its second Hawaii location this June in Waikiki's Royal Hawaiian Center. This beachy swimsuit and resort wear brand first set up shop in Paia, Maui, and since 2000 has expanded into other tony markets including Greenwich, Malibu, Nantucket, Newport Beach, Palm Beach, San Jose and Southampton.

For 15 years sisters Lisa Letarte Cabrinha and Michele Letarte have been spreading the aloha all over. Letarte has been featured in top fashion magazines and even landed the coveted cover position of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue—twice (we all remember the one with Kate Upton, don't we?).

Letarte's pieces are definitely for those who favor quality over quantity, as dresses and tunics range from $200-$400. But if you're looking stand out from the crowd, Letarte is your best bet for unique laid-back yet luxurious aprés-surf options. Swimwear includes a variety of bikini and one-piece styles, as well as a range of rash guards featuring hibiscus, skulls, butterflies and peace sign prints.

The Oahu store also carries a kids collection, beauty products, other coveted beach-chic brands such as Sol Angeles and Sundry, and is brimming with locally made pearl and shark tooth jewelry from Maui Mari and the likes.

One foot in the door and you're reminded of that vacation you've been meaning to take.

Check out the new store at Royal Hawaiian Center, 2301 Kalakaua Ave., 110-A, Honolulu, Oahu or shop online at www.letarteswimwear.com.
